He was grizzled but not a grizzly. He was a brown, but grey, bear, massive of frame, yet clearly past his prime, lacking much of the muscle and fat of former seasons. He was a lanky bear.
”Master Brumble,” gasped Henry and Serafina in almost unison.
”Fear not, young ones,” said Brumble. ”I eat but berries nowadays, I do. Ahum, mostly.” The last part was delivered so softly, almost swallowed, Henry was not quite sure it was truly there.
